Really, Really Scary

Okay. I grew up in Michigan, at a time when huge paralyzing snowstorms were common, at least two a season. For the past 14 years I've lived in Chicago and took some pretty good blasts in stride, along with the other Chicagoans. But last night was really scary, with 60 to 70 mph winds rattling my windows and blinding the view of across the street for more than 15 hours. The pictures of Lake Shore Drive as a graveyard are unreal. And we knew it was coming.

The blizzard has moved on, and bus and trains are moving and the main streets passable. Tomorrow I will search for my car. What's just as amazing is how quickly we pick ourselves up and get going again.
