Annie Lamott: preaching creativity

"I do know you've got something inside you, and if you don't get it out you're going to get sick."

I try not to get preachy about things---especially subjects where everyone has an opinion and each is just as valid as another.(I believe it was Mark Twain who defined a fanatic as "someone who can't change his mind and won't change the subject")But it's tempting to preach the virtues of the creative life, except people like Annie Lamott say it so much better.

I particularly like the above quote; this might be the explanation for why there seems to be so many sick and angry people smogging up the atmosphere lately. If these people were able to tap a creative wave and find an outlet perhaps the overwhelming acridity might be lessened.

Creative people can be anyone from a gardener to a quantum physicist, someone taken over by a passion for their materials.(I know people who dream about gardening.) The opposite is people taken over by destructive energy with anger, spite and jealousy. They dream about evicting anyone different from themselves and appearing on Fox News.
