The Film of the Year: "In a Lonely Place" (The year is 1950.)

Starring Bogart and Gloria Grahame, it is the darkest of the "Noir's", and the most riveting and revealing of Bogart performances. Bogart's own company produced it. It's absolutely "Best of Genre."

Ms. Grahame provides some classic lines in this film, such as her response when asked what she sees in Dix; “I like his face.” Dix, looking in a mirror later, asks what anyone “could love about a face like this.” Gloria says, “I said I liked it; I didn’t say I wanted to kiss it."
