In all my life, through all my schooling, I was never aware that Lincoln and Darwin were born on the same day (same day, same year.) Now, granted I was Catholic-Schooled, but the Church has always had a benign attitude towards Darwin as opposed to Galileo and Newton. The PBS special on "Finding Lincoln" last night featured a historian who has written a book comparing the two. He was talking about what if the two men had actually met, two people who changed forever how we talk and think about ourselves. He opined that there would be alot of long, meaningful, shared silences.
That these two greats share a birthday is simply staggering. Light two very bright candles on the cake!!!
